Shop Traveler / Router
Shop Travelers are an integral part of the production process. Shop Travelers are the documents created from sales orders and keep track of what products need to be created and what steps are needed to produce each product such as specific procedures and materials. Job Master job cost tracking software keeps track of all operations and materials required for production and when making and revising shop travelers will update and adjust inventory automatically, however the operator is given the choice of whether to update inventory or not. Shop Travelers can be printed out and passed from workstation to workstation as each production step is taken care of, or internally created in the computer and signed off electronically at each step in the process. When a Sales Order is entered into the system, each item with the "Router/Traveler" box checked is then added to the list of Shop Travelers to be created. This automatically ensures products on approved Sales Orders are scheduled for production.
Shop travelers in Job Master can be created from both sales orders for customers and internal orders for parts to be produced in-house.
The following is the screen at which all of the shop travelers are displayed. This screen is basically divided into two halves; the top half shows all of the shop travelers from sales orders, and the bottom half shows all of the shop travelers from internal orders:

The buttons and fields on the right side of the screen are used to sort and search in the list including the list of Travelers.
- All Rout/Trav, All Rev - This will list all the Shop Travelers currently in Job Master job cost tracking software in all revisions, deleted Travelers will of course not show up.
- Open Rout/Trav, All Rev - This sorts the list to include only open Travelers that have not been completed, and all revisions of each.
- Open Rout/Trav, Current Rev - Will only list the currently active Travelers in Job Master job cost tracking software in their most current revision.
In addition to sorting this way Job Master job cost tracking software has bar-coding enabled and scanning a bar-coded traveler will open the traveler to begin work or to move it to the next step of production.
Below the list of shop travelers from sales orders and the list of shop travelers from internal orders, there are the following buttons for creating, editing, revising, or deleting a Shop Traveler:
- New - Opens the list of open jobs that need a Shop Traveler created for them. When a Shop Traveler is created for an item that item is removed from the list.
- Edit - Opens an existing Shop Traveler for editing, when editing a Shop Traveler the changes made are saved to the original Shop Traveler. If you wish to keep a copy of the previous Shop Traveler then use "Revise".
- Revise - Opens the Shop Traveler as a revision. All revisions of a Shop Traveler are kept and you may create as many revisions as needed.
- Delete - Deletes the shop traveler from the system. You may re-create the traveler later if you wish.
The following screen is the modify Routers/Travelers screen. From this screen you can see things such as job number, order numbers part numbers and so forth, these entry fields are automatically pulled from the Sales Order. Descriptions of each part and notes to go along with the production of each part can be added to the Shop Traveler and will be printed when the Shop Traveler is printed. Technical notes and optional specifications can be added in the "Customer Technical Notes" field and in the "Optional Fields" areas:

The buttons on the very right side of the "Modify Router/Traveler" screen are Lot Split and Status Report:
- Lot Split - Lot split lets you easily split a Shop Traveler into multiple Shop Travelers. This is very useful if you have a customer that wants a large order split into several deliveries over a span of time. When clicked it opens up the "Router Traveler Lot Splitter" screen where you enter in how many lots you would like the Shop Traveler split into. Job Master job cost tracking software will create a separate Shop Traveler for each lot, and each Shop Traveler will then have a portion of the quantity ordered.
- Status Report - Status report when clicked will produce a report of exactly where the current Shop Traveler is in production. How many production steps that have been done and how many remain for completion.
Master Router / Travelers
For each part that you manufacture, you can create a master router / traveler. A master router / traveler contains all of the information that needs to be entered on the shop traveler to manufacture that part. This means that when you need to create a shop traveler to manufacture a part, you don't have to enter all of the information (the materials/parts, operations, graphics) all over again.
The Master Router / Travelers section of Job Master is accessed by the Master Router / Travelers button on the Job Master main menu. This takes you to the following window which lists all of the master router / travelers:

You can create new master router / travelers here by using the New button, or you can edit existing ones by clicking on one you want to edit and then clicking on the Edit button.
This is the screen where you enter the information for a master router / traveler:
